Veritas Academy
We founded Veritas Academy in 2013 in Ikorodu, Nigeria. We chose the name Veritas because it means Truth in Latin. Our mission is to provide children with a quality of education that they otherwise would not be able to afford, as we teach them about the love of Jesus Christ our savior.
Ikorodu is a poor, developing area outside of Lagos, Nigeria where Dr. Emmanuel Okenye lived with this family as a teenager. At that time they had a one room house and outdoor toilet. Many days they had no food to eat and his parents struggled to afford tuition so that he could attend school. (There is no free public school in Nigeria). Veritas Academy is an avenue to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of children in this area that is dear to Dr. Emmanuel.
