Dear Child Scholars Donor,
Classrooms are generally built for learning, but when they begin to tell stories, they take interesting twists and turns. In this context, our classrooms reverberated with the laughter of children seated at brand-new desks, while others were filled with the resolve of students preparing for final exams.
This month, we bring you voices from two corners of the world; the Philippines and Kenya, where your donations continue to ignite transformation. Your giving is rewriting hope into the lives of our children; repairing a leaking roof in Southern Leyte and helping a Kenyan school plant vegetables to feed hundreds of learners.
Updates from the Philippines: REACH Project
All thanks for your support, REACH has expanded its reach this school year:
- Partnered with a Christian school in Southern Leyte, sponsoring 4 new elementary students.
- Provided a laptop for teachers and funded the construction of much-needed desks.
- Welcomed a new college student, providing monthly living support and a laptop.
- Currently supporting 12 students in total, ranging from tuition sponsorships to food and transportation assistance.
Forging ahead, REACH plans to help repair the school’s leaking roof, which has been causing mold and health concerns. The attached photos show desks under construction, the leaking roof, and students on their sponsored rides to school; all tangible proof of the change you are assisting to create.

- 20 new double-decker beds reduced dorm overcrowding.
- Classroom upgrades improved safety with new metal doors.
- Food sustainability projects now provide fresh vegetables and dairy milk for all students.
- A new water project is underway, in partnership with Rotary Clubs, to bring reliable, solar-powered water access.
Highlighted are two students who have received Child Scholars tuition scholarships.
James is currently a candidate for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment slated for October this year.
He was brought to the school through the support of well-wishers who found him loitering in an informal settlement near Lake Naivasha.
His journey has truly been one of transformation that has captivated all in his village, thanks to his stay in this school.
His mother absconded when she realized he had a disability at about one year, and she never looked back. He has been brought up by his grandmother who is now aged and struggling with her health.
He was at the verge of dropping out when Child Scholars came to his aid and he will now successfully complete his early years of schooling.
He was brought to school by a paternal uncle since his father had left home. He hails from an area that is prone to insecurity arising from neighboring communities fighting over resources.
He is a gifted boy in athletics and ball games as well, but his growth has been hampered by frequent absenteeism from school due to inability to clear boarding fees.
Child Scholars support offered him a much-needed lifeline that has enabled him to report on time and stay in school through the term.
The mother is the sole breadwinner of the family, living in a hostile environment.
How You Can Help:
- Sponsor a student to keep children in school.
- Donate supplies to equip classrooms.
- Support infrastructure projects like solar power and dorm furniture.
- Volunteer skills to train, teach, or advocate.
Your giving is more than numbers; it is stories, faces, and futures being rewritten every single day. From the Philippines to Kenya, your giving ensures children are not only learning, but advancing.
Thank you for standing with us in this journey of hope.
Warm regards,
Morenike Adams
