Dear Child Scholars Donor
This month, we present to you a story of uncommon strength , community impact, and the resolute dedication of healthcare professionals. Our spotlight is on Nidus and Aquilae Hospital, a beneficiary of Child Scholars’ support, where the echoes of compassion and commitment resonate deeply despite limited resources.
A Silver Lining for the Underserved
Nestled within a bustling community, Nidus and Aquilae Hospital serves as a lifeline for those who cannot afford essential healthcare. With an average of 300-400 patients monthly, their work touches lives in profound ways. From health interventions for underserved populations to lifesaving treatments, the hospital’s mission aligns closely with ours: to foster hope and change in vulnerable communities. All thanks to your magnanimity, the hospital has made remarkable strides. Key improvements include:- Provision of laptops and internet upgrades, transforming record-keeping and data management.
- Replacement of a failing electronic medical records (EMR) system.
- Initiatives to address persistent electricity challenges, including the integration of solar power, which lifted a heavy operational burden.
Urgent Needs to Ensure Sustainability
While the hospital has achieved much, there is still critical work to be done. Addressing the following needs will enable Nidus and Aquilae Hospital to operate at an optimal level and extend its impact:
- Medical Equipment: An ultrasound machine is urgently needed to enhance diagnostic accuracy and speed up patient care. Essential lab testing tools, such as microscopes, are in short supply, hindering the hospital’s ability to conduct critical diagnostics. More laptop computers are also required to replace out of date ones.
- Infrastructure Upgrades: The pharmacy requires modernization to improve drug storage and accessibility. The labor ward and recovery room have been unused for over a decade and need renovations to serve patients again. Staff bathrooms and the kitchen, both vital to the team’s well-being, are also in dire need of repairs. Staircase railings must be installed for safety, particularly in emergency situations.
- Staffing Solutions: The hospital is critically understaffed and requires more lab scientists and technicians to work on a shift basis, ensuring round-the-clock service. Two pharmacists with overnight facilities are needed to meet patient needs at all hours. Ambulance drivers are also required for shift rotations to improve emergency response times.
- Maintenance: A more organized maintenance team is needed to keep the facility running smoothly and ensure all infrastructure and equipment remain in optimal condition.
These investments will not only improve the quality of care but also enable the hospital to continue serving as a beacon of hope for countless families.
Your Role in Healing Communities
Your forward-moving support has already changed lives, and there is still so much we can accomplish together. Imagine the impact of a fully equipped labor ward, or a pharmacist with overnight facilities ensuring timely care for patients in need.
Every contribution brings us closer to a day when no patient is turned away due to insufficient resources. By donating to this cause, you are helping us build a future where health and hope go hand in hand.
From all of us at Child Scholars, and on behalf of the resilient staff and patients at Nidus and Aquilae Hospital, thank you for continuing to inspire hope and transform lives.
Together, we are:
Healing communities, changing lives!
Warm regards,
