Dear Child Scholars Donor,
This month, something phenomenal happened! There was a very special visit! Our founder, Dr. Emmanuel Okenye, traveled to Nigeria and spent quality time touring two of our thriving initiatives; Veritas Academy (Ikorodu) and Nidus Aquilae Hospital (Ilupeju).
It was a much-anticipated and truly impactful visit!
A Vital Connection with Veritas Academy
At Veritas Academy, Dr. Okenye met with the passionate management and staff, who shared detailed reports on their activities, celebrated success stories, and spoke candidly about the challenges they face. It was heartwarming to see their resourcefulness and resilience in action.
During his visit, Dr. Okenye also introduced some exciting updates as part of our evolving commitment to accountability and transparency:
The Donor Communications Coordinator will now request periodic activity reports directly from Veritas’ Principal.
Unannounced supervisory visits will be introduced to support ongoing improvements at the Academy.
These steps ensure we stay true to our promise of delivering the highest impact for the communities we serve — and for YOU, our loyal donors.
A New Chapter at Nidus Aquilae Hospital
At Nidus Aquilae Hospital, Dr. Okenye scheduled a comprehensive session with the entire management and staff. It was an open, solution-driven meeting where challenges were laid bare, ideas were exchanged, and paths forward were mapped out; all with the shared understanding that countless lives depend on the hospital’s success.
The visit culminated in an important milestone: Dr. Okenye met with Nidus Aquilae’s stakeholders to strengthen Child Scholars’ partnership and stake in the hospital. This meeting marks a defining new phase in our journey, and we can’t wait to share some big announcements with you very soon. Stay tuned, you will be among the first to hear!
Brunch, Bonding, and Plenty of Laughter
What’s a milestone visit without some hearty bonding time?
The visit wrapped up with a wonderful brunch with the hospital’s senior management staff and our tireless Child Scholars creative team; the very people who help us share these incredible stories with you. We ate (a lot!), laughed, shared memories, and renewed our commitment to the meaningful work ahead.
