Dear Child Scholars Donor,
Every new year begins with questions of hope: What can be built? Who can be helped, and how far compassion can reach. At Child Scholars, the answers have always been determined by you. Your faithful support has turned obscurity into opportunity and lack into impact, sustaining education and healthcare where they are needed most. As we step into 2026, we are deeply grateful for the trust you continue to place in this mission.
We began this year with a strategic board meeting that brought together key stakeholders, reiterating our shared vision and setting a clear direction for the months ahead. The meeting came to a deciding conclusion; our greatest impact is achieved when compassion is matched with commitment. Below are some of the priority projects and needs guiding Child Scholars’ work in 2026.
Securing Learning at Veritas Academy
For years, Veritas Academy has battled persistent theft within its premises; textbooks, desks, chairs, and essential learning materials stolen repeatedly. This insecurity forced the school to pause critical purchases, leaving classrooms under-resourced and pupils disadvantaged.
We have decided to change this narrative. Child Scholars is currently constructing a security house to accommodate two trained security personnel; one for daytime and one for overnight protection. This step will restore safety, protect resources, and allow the school to rebuild its learning environment with confidence.
Funds expended so far: Over $800
Current fundraising goals:
$3,000 for comprehensive security infrastructure
$2,000 for school building maintenance and instructional materials
Every dollar toward these goals directly safeguards education and restores normalcy to the learning experience at Veritas Academy.
Strengthening Healthcare at Nidus Aquilae Hospital
For over two years, Dr. Emmanuel Okenye has served diligently as Chief Medical Officer at Nidus Aquilae Hospital, leading weekly strategy meetings, improving service delivery, and ensuring the hospital moved beyond survival to steady, quality primary healthcare. The transformation has been evident in patient care, staff coordination, and operational standards.
In pursuit of global best practices, Dr. Okenye has now appointed Dr. Frank Chiwuzoh as Associate Medical Director, strengthening leadership capacity and positioning the hospital for its next phase of growth. We are confident this transition will improve healthcare access for surrounding communities.
Vocational Training: Empowering Young Adults to Earn a Living
In March 2026, Child Scholars, in partnership with Voice Over Academy (VOA), will launch its first vocational training program in Videography, Video Editing, and Motion Graphics for young adults. Beyond technical training, participants will have the rare opportunity to intern directly with VOA, equipping them with real-time experience and income-generating skills.
Scholarships for Voice Over Academy Trainees
Each training cycle at Voice Over Academy attracts many eager applicants, but financial barriers prevent most from enrolling. While an average course fee of $150 only covers basic running costs, it remains out of reach for many. We are grateful for individual sponsors like Dr. Emmanuel Okenye; who have stepped in to support deserving trainees. However, scholarship requests continue to far exceed available sponsorships. Supporting these scholarships helps participants discover the power of their voice, build sustainable careers, and support their families. More information is available at www.voiceoveracademyng.com.
Expanding Scholarships Beyond Borders
Child Scholars’ vision has always extended beyond borders. From Nigeria to Kenya and the Philippines, we have supported education and learning initiatives across nations. In 2026, we are committed to extending student scholarships to even more countries, moving closer to our goal of establishing learning centers worldwide.
None of this work happens without you. We invite you to partner with us intentionally in 2026, by giving toward any of these projects, committing to consistent donations, and sharing our story. Please forward this newsletter to friends, colleagues, and networks who may be moved to support the impactful work of Child Scholars.
Together, we can continue providing education, healthcare, and opportunity to the communities we serve.
