Dear Child Scholars Donor
It’s Thanksgiving Week in the United States. A time filled with warmth, gratitude, and joyful reflection. And while you celebrate with family, friends, and overflowing tables, we want you to know that your generosity is creating its own kind of celebration across the globe.
All thanks to you for your donations, November has been a month of milestones, fresh starts, and unforeseen blessings for children in the Philippines and at Veritas Academy in Nigeria.

This month, our Philippines Project has been wonderfully busy; the joyful kind of busy.
A 7th Grader Steps Forward
We welcomed a bright new student into the Child Scholars family. Her father, a hardworking tricycle driver, has seen his income drop significantly due to continuous rains and flooding. Because of you, she now has her dormitory fees, cafeteria costs, and school expenses fully covered. Her smile said everything her words couldn’t.
A Long-Awaited College Dream Comes True
Another young lady, who has been working tirelessly since high school graduation to save for college, finally got the breakthrough she waited two and a half years for. Today, she is…

She resumed college on November 24, after shopping for her supplies with joyful disbelief. She says Child Scholars is the answer to a prayer she didn’t think would be answered this soon.
After Typhoon Kalmaegi: Relief, Safety and Support
The typhoon that hit the Philippines this month caused widespread flooding and loss of life. Thankfully, all our students are safe, though several lost roofs, school materials, and parts of their homes.
We were able to send $615 in humanitarian aid to support families, repair damages, and help students get back on their feet.
Even in a stormy month, joy found its way in.
At Veritas Academy, Nigeria: Progress Takes Center Stage
Following our surprise inspection visit in September, Veritas Academy has undergone an inspiring transformation; and guess who helped make every step possible? You!
1. A New Head Mistress, A New Chapter
A full-time Head Mistress/Principal is now in place, and her leadership has already created visible improvements in attendance, teaching quality, and daily operations.
2. Enrollment Is Rising Again
Parents who previously withdrew their children have started bringing them back after hearing of the Academy’s restructuring. This small shift means so much; a renewed trust in the school’s future.
3. Staff Salaries Increased
Dr. Okenye fulfilled his promise to raise salaries in alignment with Nigeria’s new minimum wage. Today, Veritas teachers are the highest paid in their local community; a huge morale booster made possible by your continued support.
4. Communication & Engagement Are Stronger
Parent-Teacher Association now holds more regularly, weekly updates go out from the school, and stakeholder meetings with Child Scholars have kept accountability high and steady.
5. An Urgent Need: Strengthening School Security
Due to increased robbery incidents within the area, the Academy now needs
- A security standpost
- A contracted security agency to protect students, staff, and school property.
This will be a key project for the months ahead.
As families across the U.S. gather to celebrate gratitude, we want you to know this; children across our various initiatives are also giving thanks because:

- You have helped rebuild trust, restore dignity, and reimagine futures.
