Dr. Eddie Brown taught for 27 years at Lee University where he taught both Emmanuel and Kaylee Organic Chemistry. In 2017, he transitioned to full-time at Chem21Labs – a company he and Renee founded in 2005.

In 2005, Chem21Labs created two unique learning tools: 1) an online portal for students to submit lab reports and receive feedback in real-time, and 2) Timed-Repetitive Quizzes (TRQs) – assignments that build basic knowledge in small, anxiety-free steps for course credit.

Over the years, Chem21Labs has added a suite of homework problem types and HTML5-JavaScript animation tutorials that when coupled with TRQs provide a powerful individualized learning plan that has been successfully implemented in a variety of subjects.

The Chem21Labs educational philosophy is based on creating and implementing learning methods that build and strengthen long-term memories because “if nothing is placed in long-term memory, nothing has been learned.” Renee has used TRQs in her sixth grade Math class for the past 13 years and has observed a marked improvement in her student’s math abilities.

In May 2022, Renee retired and together the Browns are partnering with Child Scholars to create curriculum for the Child Scholars Academy. TRQs will be a foundational piece of the curriculum which will be delivered online with the Chem21Labs’ learning platform. Developing an effective online curricular approach will allow Child Scholars to reach more kids in more places with less expense. Eddie and Renee enjoy playing tennis, visiting the grandkids, their dog Sully, and travelling.
